War is "quot; with Israel, senior Hamas leader
Abdul Aziz al-Rantissi declared Monday on Dubai-based Al-Arabiya television.
Palestinian negotiations minister Saeb Erakat "strongly condemned this ignoble
crime perpetrated by Zionist forces". But Zionist's deputy defense minister Zeev
Boim said that Yassin had deserved to meet his fate after overseeing hundreds of
attacks by the movement. Boim hinted that more attacks on Palestinian militant
leaders were possible by warning that "no terrorist leader will be immune".
Zionist's security cabinet last Tuesday decided to step up
military operations against Hamas and its leadership following the twin suicide
attack in Ashdod which was jointly claimed by Hamas and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs
Brigades, a radical offshoot of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah
movment. Yassin had publicly justified as legitimate the suicide bombings by two
teenagers which killed 10 civilians as well as the two bombers.
Zionist public radio said Monday that Prime Minister Ariel
Sharon had not only given the green light to Yassin's elimination but had also
personally supervised the attack. |
